A new Greek marble quarry in Kavala

New quarry in Kavala

A new quarry is resuming its activity in the marble-rich area of Eastern Macedonia. The new, privately-owned quarry of Stone Group International is situated in the Nestos area, in the Nikites location. The quarry’s’ location allows fast and easy shipment of  marble across the world, thanks to its proximity to the ports of Thessaloniki and Kavala, and to Stone Group International’s plants in Drama and Thessaloniki.

The quarry occupies a total area of 150.000 sq. m. Plans and work on its expansion are already underway. Current production is 30.000 tons in volumes, expected to reach 100.000 tons annually by the end of 2019.

The quarry extracts the calcite marble Ηemarus Grey, which is available in blocks, slabs, and tiles. Thanks to its calcite qualities and other technical characteristics, Hemarus Grey is ideal for all types of construction projects, presenting minimal technical complications during installation.

The marble has a white and off-white background, with striking grey veining. It is available in three types: in horizontal and diagonal veins, and in a motif featuring large, cloud-resembling patterns. The photos below demonstrate how each of the three types of Hemarus Grey produces an entirely different aesthetic effect. This is the reason why Hemarus Grey is suitable for a great variety of decorative solutions.

The use of state-of-the-art technology in all stages of marble processing guarantees that Hemarus Grey can meet the most demanding technical standards. Furthermore, Hemarus Grey’s large production volume and technical and aesthetic qualities make it suitable for all types of small- to large-scale construction projects.

This is the ninth quarry to join the list of quarries owned by Stone Group International and its business partners.

Most are white marble quarries, extracting the globally renowned

Volakas Haemus, Volakas Electron, Pirgon, Elba Blue, Venus Vox, Vermion White, Mistral and Ostria marble types.

We are here to answer any question you may have about our new quarry and the Hemarus Grey marble.
